After completing his undergraduate degree from University of Maryland in 1973, Lawrence Mintz continued his education at Howard University School of Law where he graduated Summa Cum Laude and received his law degree in 1976. Shortly after, he began working as a Law Clerk to the Honorable Catherine B. Kelly, District of Columbia Appeals, from 1976-1978.
Since then, Mintz became part of the New Jersey and District of Columbia Bar Associations and served as a member of the New Jersey Supreme Court Committee on New Jersey Workers’ Compensation Certification. He is currently the Chair of South Jersey Justice James Coleman, Jr., New Jersey Workers’ Compensation Inn of Court and has been the Co-Chair for the Atlantic County Bar Association’s Workers’ Compensation Section since 1987. He also steps in as a Lecturer focusing on Workers' Compensation Practice at the New Jersey Institute of Continuing Legal Education. In 2011, he was certified by the New Jersey Supreme Court as a Workers’ Compensation Law Attorney.
From 2005-2016, Mintz was named a New Jersey “Super Lawyer” for Workers’ Compensation and has been listed by the Best Lawyers in America for his specialty practice in Worker’s Compensation in New Jersey for those same consecutive 11 years.
One of Mintz’s greatest achievements to date is his successful 2008 case in New Jersey Workers’ Compensation Court that was the first to find that secondhand smoke contributed to a casino dealer’s lung cancer.
