PROFESSIONAL AFFILIATIONS:

Michael Gill graduated from Stockton University with high honors in 1987 and went on to earn his law degree from Rutgers Law School in 1990. While at Rutgers Law, Michael served as Managing Editor of The Rutgers Law Journal from 1989-1990 where he authored two published articles. One article was cited favorably five times by the New Jersey Supreme Court and has also been cited by the Michigan and Wyoming Supreme Courts. Michael has had numerous other columns/articles published in various Legal publications and newspapers. Immediately after graduation from Rutgers Law, Michael joined GMS LAW as an Associate and was made a Partner in 1995.He has spent his entire legal career with GMS LAW. He has appeared multiple times in the New Jersey Appellate Courts and before the New Jersey Supreme Court. He is also licensed to advocate before the United States Supreme Court.

Michael served as an Officer and/or Trustee of the Atlantic County Bar Association from 1994-2005, serving as President of the Bar Association from 2004-2005. He, was a member of the District I Fee Arbitration Committee from 1997-2000, and also served on the Board of Directors Community Justice Institute of Atlantic County from 1999-2004.  Michael represented Atlantic County on the New Jersey State Family Law Executive Committee from 2008-2009 and also served as a member of the Supreme Court of New Jersey District I Ethics Committee from 2011-2015.
 
Michael has served on the Board of Trustees for South Jersey Legal Services (SJLS) since 2004 and is currently the First Vice President of SJLS., Michael has served on the Board of Trustees for the African American Heritage Museum of Southern Jersey since 2011 and is currently the Board Secretary. Michael has served on the Robert McAllister Professionalism Committee since 2013. He is a  member of the New Jersey State Bar Association/Family Section, a member of the American Bar Association/Family Section, and a Matrimonial Early Settlement Panelist for Atlantic and Cape May Counties.
 
Michael has received many recognitions over the years. In 2004 he received the Legal Services of New Jersey “Equal Justice Medal” in recognition of his efforts to establish legal clinics for the financially disadvantaged. In 2010 he received “The Professional Lawyer of the Year Award” from the New Jersey Commission on Professionalism in the Law. In 2015 he received the New Jersey State Bar Association “Pro Bono Award”  and in 2017 he received the Jeffrey C. Green award for outstanding Board service for SJLS. New Jersey magazine has chosen Michael as a “Super Lawyer” every year since 2005.
