If you are injured in an accident you may be entitled to receive compensation for the injury and other losses you suffer. No matter what kind of accident you are in: motor vehicle, slip/trip and fall, on or off the job—almost any injury you suffer, no matter how it happens, may qualify.
If you have an accident of any kind you should take pictures of the damage to a car, uneven sidewalk where you fell, or a dirty or wet floor in a store, just to name a few examples. You should get witness names and contact information, which will be important later on. A witness who you cannot contact is not a witness at all.
A dangerous condition may be quickly fixed after you fall, so get the photos when it happens.
If you are hurt in a car accident the police usually respond and make a report, so it’s documented. But in a fall down at a store, for example, people often are embarrassed and do not report the fall so there is no report that the fall happened at all! So always report your fall to the store manager when it happens, just to have it on record.
Doctors know that many injuries that seem minor can turn out to be serious. It’s a good idea to get checked out to be sure. When you see your doctor give an accurate history of how you got hurt and where it happened. That is critical information for the doctor and for any possible legal case in the future.
The legal process can be complicated. You don’t do this every day, but we do. In the event you get hurt in a car, on the job or in any other location, give us a call to review your legal rights.
